Argentina Customer Bought 3 Lines for Garlic Processing

Argentina is a major global garlic-producing region, with its purple-skinned garlic enjoying high recognition in international markets. Locally grown garlic supplies not only the domestic market but is also exported in large quantities to Europe, South America, and other overseas markets. For many Argentine garlic enterprises, the primary business model has long centered on washing, grading, and packaging fresh garlic for export.

We recently partnered with an Argentina garlic company to provide a comprehensive garlic processing line. The client has long been engaged in garlic cultivation, procurement, and export, boasting a stable local supply chain and established sales channels. However, as the business expanded, a persistent issue began to impact profitability: post-harvest losses.

Argentina garlic processing line

During the processes of harvesting, transportation, storage, and export packaging, garlic can sustain skin damage or fail to meet export appearance standards due to factors such as moisture fluctuations, mechanical impact, and storage conditions. Although such garlic is unsuitable for export as premium fresh produce, much of it retains significant nutritional and culinary value. Selling it at a low price not only reduces overall profits but also results in a waste of raw material resources.

Addressing the Argentina client's current production model and pain points, we designed a comprehensive garlic processing solution based on "graded utilization and deep processing," which maximizes raw material value by routing garlic of varying quality into distinct processing workflows.

During the design process, we first conducted a detailed analysis of raw material characteristics, target markets, and future development directions, based on the Argentina client's existing garlic processing workflow. We ultimately decided to adopt a parallel production line model, ensuring that garlic of various grades could be directed toward appropriate applications.

Garlic that is of high quality, visually intact, and meets export standards enters the fresh garlic processing line. Automated equipment for washing, grading, sorting, and packaging ensures standardized processing, preserving the garlic's visual appeal for the fresh export market.

Garlic with minor cosmetic imperfections—but with intact cloves and good internal quality—is diverted to the garlic flake processing line. Through processes such as peeling, slicing, and drying, these bulbs are transformed into garlic flakes. Dried garlic flakes offer advantages such as a long shelf life and ease of transport, making them widely used in the condiment, food processing, and foodservice industries.

As for garlic cloves that are partially damaged and fail to meet the processing standards for fresh garlic or garlic slices, they are further processed into garlic paste. This paste can be utilized in sectors such as food service and sauce production. In this way, garlic that might otherwise have been discarded or sold at a low price is transformed into a product with market value.

Regarding equipment configuration, we optimized the overall solution to meet the client's needs for increased automation, reduced labor costs, and future production scalability. Throughout the collaboration, we focused not only on supplying equipment but also on helping the client develop a comprehensive strategy for garlic product development. We engaged in multiple rounds of discussions—covering everything from raw material allocation and processing techniques to product positioning and market applications—to tailor a solution that aligned with their existing business operations.

As a result of this partnership, the Argentina client successfully established three parallel garlic processing lines, enabling the simultaneous development of fresh garlic, garlic slice, and garlic paste. By effectively utilizing garlic of varying qualities, the client not only minimized post-harvest losses but also expanded their product range and sales channels.
